Shariah Council of America
Shariah Council of America is a chapter of Islamic Research Foundation New York (IRFNY) as non-profit organization. SCOA is a council of independent jurists, the scholars do not limit the fatwas to any particular school of thought or sect in Islam. SCOA carefully issues declarations based on the Quran and the traditions of the Prophet ﷺ and early scholars of Islam but do not restrict to any sect.
While some councils unite to issue opinions restricted to one madhhab, SCOA remains broad in opinions, based on consultation and circumstances of case received. As time progresses and modern issues arise, academically qualified scholars address these matters with deep research and understanding.
Moreover, Shariah Council of America ensures that all declarations rely solely on the Quran and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. No rulings contradict the original Islamic sources, as scholars base their opinions on thorough research from both early and later scholarly works.
Additionally, it is not limited to council in a single matter. There are a wide range of fields that SCOA support. It includes Islamic Marriage, Talaq, Khula, Faskh, Family Court Advocate, Magic, Ruqyah, Psychological Mental Illness, Muslim Family Counseling, Sexual and Marital Private Counseling, etc.
